The engineering state exam is a crucial milestone for engineering students approaching graduation. The exam not only serves as an evaluation of the knowledge and skills acquired during years of study but also signifies a crucial step towards launching one’s professional career.

The engineering state exam is structured into two distinct sections, referred to as A and B. Section A is aimed at candidates holding a degree awarded under the regulations preceding D.M. 509/99, as well as specialist and master’s degrees. This section is tailored for aspiring to become:

• Industrial engineers;
• Civil and environmental engineers;
• Information engineers.

On the other hand, Section B is reserved for those holding a University Diploma and a bachelor’s degree and is intended for:

• Junior industrial engineers;
• Junior civil and environmental engineers;
• Junior information engineers.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic emergency, the state exam consisted of two written tests, an oral exam, and a final practical design exam. However, due to the impact of the pandemic, the exam format changed, and we are currently awaiting directives regarding the new procedures for the year 2024.

Preparing for the state exam requires a strong academic foundation and a clear understanding of the exam’s expectations and challenges. As such, we have decided to create a comprehensive and practical handbook to offer additional support to those preparing for this important test.

The authors are former students who have successfully passed the state exam and have firsthand experience of the challenges and difficulties of the preparation process. The handbook contains carefully selected essential materials enriched with practical tips and useful advice from direct experience.
